BAREILLY: Six members of a family — a couple and their four minor daughters — riding on a bike were run over by a speeding truck in Uttar Pardesh’s Shahjahanpur district on Wednesday, killing three on the spot.
The dead include Sabina Begum (32) and her two daughters — Saba (5) and Alina (8). Sabina’s husband, Mohammad Irshad (39), and their other two daughters were critically injured. Irshad, a resident of Farrukhabad, runs a grocery store in the city. The accident took place on Shahjahanpur-Jalalabad state highway when the family was on their way to attend a religious function at a relative’s house in Jalalabad town.
SSP S Anand said, “The woman and their two daughters died on the spot, while the man and their two other daughters were rushed to hospital, where their condition is stated to be critical. Meanwhile, the bodies were handed over to the family after autopsy.” “We have booked the truck driver under sections 304a (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of IPC,” the SSP added.
